We’re looking for a junior lawyer to join the legal department of a UK retail bank at a pivotal time in the organisations growth. This role would suit someone interested in payments and retail banking but who doesn’t want to join a mammoth legal team and become one of many. With a small approachable team and very friendly culture, you will be learning from some excellent senior lawyers who are serious about their work but who are fun to be around. The role will focus on regulatory and commercial matters mostly in the payments space, looking at the New Payments Architecture and the many changes in regulation, as well as a broader mix of commercial deals, corporate governance work and general legal advice. You will assist and support the senior lawyers as you develop your experience at a time when the banking is thriving and increasing its profitability.
For this position, we are not looking for an expert, but you do need some exposure to payments work. Hiring for attitude, you will be expected to muck in and assist with a variety of legal matters. An in-house or private practice background will be considered but we are looking for someone who is good with people and has excellent soft skills.
